One of the most unusual Rolex models, the Texano reference 5100 was released in the midst of the quartz crisis when the major Swiss watch brands were scrambling to enter the new age of watchmaking. The Texano, as collectors named it, is a heavy, 18k gold watch with a very accurate quartz movement. The shape is certainly something different for Rolex, but this reference 5100 played an important role in the brands history while it was deciding what the future had in store for horology.
